You’ll start your trip in Osaka, one of the country’s major commercial and industrial cities and gateways, where a warm, relaxed atmosphere prevails more than anywhere else in Japan. You’ll visit Osaka Castle, sample the street food for which the city is famous, then stop off at a Shinto shrine for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
You’ll then reach the sacred mountain of Koyasan, where you’ll take a dip in extraordinary nature in a spiritual place housing a magnificent cemetery and over 100 Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines, bearing witness to the coherent coexistence and fusion of the two doctrines.
You’ll continue on your way, stopping off at Nara Park before arriving in Kyoto, Japan’s imperial capital for over a thousand years and the cradle of traditional Japanese culture, as well as an open book on the history of its political and religious institutions. You’ll visit the bamboo forest, the monkey park, the historic district with its wooden houses and numerous sacred sites, including the Yasaka Shrine, the city’s landmark. You’ll continue on to Kanazawa, a town nestled between sea and mountains, where you’ll discover the picturesque samurai quarter, the town’s feudal castle and the Kenroku-en garden, renowned for the beauty and harmony of its landscaping.
You’ll then enjoy a day at a ryokan for a relaxing wellness experience in nature, in a resort renowned for its volcanic hot springs. Finally, you’ll round off your tour with a visit to Tokyo, the country’s capital, where you’re sure to find a change of scene. You’ll visit Shinjuku, the modern district of this megalopolis characterized by neon-spangled skyscrapers, yet renowned for its cleanliness and sense of security. You’ll round off your stay with a meal at a typical, lively izakaza, where you’ll feast on local specialties to your heart’s content.
When you return home, you’ll be left with wonderful impressions of the fabulous land of the rising sun for a long time to come!
