Day 1

MONTREAL

Departure from Montreal airport (P.E. Trudeau) on a flight to Tunis.

Note: Arrival at the airport at least 3 hours before departure.

Day 2:

TUNIS-HAMMAMET (66 km)

❖ Meals included: Dinner / Lodging: 5* Hotel / Transportation: Air-conditioned vehicle.

  • Arrival in Tunis. Welcome and transfer to the hotel for installation.
  • Rest of the day free to enjoy the pool and other facilities.

Day 3:

HAMMAMET-TUNIS-CARTHAGE-HAMMAMET (162 km round trip)

Departure for a day of discovery:

  • Visit to Tunis and its medinalisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its rich architectural heritage, reflecting the architectural and artistic influences that have dominated its history. Stroll through the the souks to meet its merchants.
  • Discovery of the archaeological site of CarthageCarthage, a city that enjoyed its golden age in the 4th century BC, when it had the best war fleet and dominated all trade in the western Mediterranean. Visit the portthe tophet (sacred space dedicated to the worship of divinities) and the Roman public baths of Antoninus the Pious.
  • Return to the seaside hotel inHammamet.

Day 4:

HAMMAMET-SIDI BOU SAÏD-BIZERTE-SEJNANE-TABARKA (299 km)

❖ Meals included: Breakfast and dinner / Lodging: 4* hotel / Transportation: Air-conditioned vehicle.

Departure for a day of discovery:

  • Visit to Sidi Bou Saïd one of the most charming villages on the Mediterranean coast, with a collection of pretty white and blue houses.
    Free time to store or stroll through its narrow streets and enjoy a mint tea.
  • Continue on to the old fishing port of Bizerte and visit its fish market and its medina.
  • Continue along the coast along the coral road and stop off at Sejnane to visit the local potters.
  • Continuation to Tabarka and discover its marina and its its famous aiguilles (rock formations).

Day 5:

TABARKA-AIN DRAHAM-DOUGGA-SOUSSE (320 km)

Departure for a day of discovery:

  • Escape to sublime mountain landscapes through the Kroumirie massif and its cork oak forests and visit the village of Ain Draham and its souk.
  • Continuation to Dougga and discover its Roman ruins classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Continuation to Sousselocated by the sea.

Day 6:

SOUSSE-KAIROUAN-TOZEUR (349 km)

❖ Meals included: Breakfast and dinner / Lodging: 4* hotel / Transportation: Air-conditioned vehicle.

Departure for a visit to the holy city of Kairouan :

  • Visit the Aghlabite basinsimportant hydraulic works used to supply the city with water as early as the 9th century.
  • Visit the Great Mosquethe city’s emblematic building, the oldest and most prestigious Muslim place of worship in the West.
  • Visit the mausoleum of the Barber which houses the tomb of a fervent companion of the Prophet of Islam, who died in battle in the 7th century.
  • Visit of the medina of Kairouanthe oldest city in the Maghreb, converted to Islam by the Arabs in the 7th century and home to a large number of religious buildings (mausoleums, mosques, schools, etc.).
  • Visit the artisanal carpet centera venue showcasing an art form that has been firmly rooted in Kairouan for centuries. Kairouan carpets feature geometric shapes typical of Islamic art, as well as floral motifs from traditional Tunisian folk art.
  • Continuation to Tozeur.

Day 7:

TOZEUR-CHEBIKA-TAMERZA-MIDÈS-TOZEUR (160 km round trip)

❖ Meals included: Breakfast and dinner / Lodging: 4* hotel / Transportation: Air-conditioned vehicle.

Departure for a day of discovery:

  • Tour of the city of TozeurTozeur, a magnificent oasis located between the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert. Discover its typical market and its old quarters.
  • Visit Eden Palm Parkan open-air museum set in a palm grove, where you can learn all there is to know about this fruit and its by-products. On-site tasting of date products.
  • In the afternoon, continuation to the Atlas Mountains and excursion by Jeep 4X4 in the Tunisian Sahara, towards the oases of Tamerza, Midès and Chebikaa Berber village set against a backdrop of ochre-coloured sand and orange-coloured mountains from which large springs flow.
    Discover its magnificent waterfall with its turquoise-blue waters.
  • Photo stop at one of the one of the filming locations for “Star Wars”. to capture a sunset over the sand dunes.
  • Return to Tozeur.

Day 8:

TOZEUR-CHOTT EL JÉRID-DOUZ-KSAR GHILANE (273 km)

❖ Meals included: Breakfast and dinner / Lodging: in tents / Transport: air-conditioned vehicle.

Departure for a day of discovery:

  • Crossing the great salt lake Chott El Jérid with a photo stop to immortalize this beautiful and somewhat surreal landscape. This is a plain stretching almost 100 km from east to west, flooded seasonally with saline water that limits vegetation.
  • Arrival in Douza town in southern Tunisia at the foot of the great dunes, earning it the title of “Gateway to the Desert”. Dromedary trekking in an extraordinary natural setting.
  • Jeep 4X4 excursion through the Tunisian Sahara, to see these endless stretches of sand.
  • Drive to the Ksar Ghilane camp for an overnight stay night in a tent. The promise of a taste of the freedom of the desert people, the immensity of the sky and the tranquility of this setting of dunes and sand plains stretching to infinity.

Day 9:

KSAR GHILANE-CHENINI-TATAOUINE-DJERBA (215 km)

❖ Meals included: Breakfast and dinner / Lodging: 5* hotel / Transportation: Air-conditioned vehicle and ferry.

Departure for a day of discovery:

  • Morning tour of the village of Chenini with a local guide and visit to troglodytic houses. These are dwellings dug horizontally, floor by floor, into the mountainside, with a well as the main feature of the house’s central courtyard. These houses were designed to let in just the right amount of light, while remaining cool and comfortable in all seasons.
  • Continuation to Tataouineanother village of houses carved out of the mountains inhabited by Berbers.
  • Cross this region with its lunar landscape and arrive on the island of Djerba by ferry.

Day 10:

DJERBA

Departure for a tour of the island:

  • Visit to the village of Guellalaand the Ghriba synagoguesynagogue Djerbahood and the island’s capital, Houmet Souk.
  • Afternoon free to enjoy the pool and beach on the Mediterranean coast.

Day 11:

DJERBA-EL JEM-SOUSSE (397 km)

Depart by ferry for another day of discovery:

  • Continuation to El Jem to visit theRoman amphitheatrethe best preserved in the country. It was built in the 3rd century as a venue for gladiatorial combat, chariot races and circus games. The stadium, built entirely of ashlar, bears witness to the extraordinary genius of Roman engineers. At the time, it could accommodate up to 35,000 spectators.
  • Continuation to the seaside resort of Sousse.

Days 12-13-14:

SOUSSE – 3-day seaside holiday
