Your senses will then be baffled as you wander the historic shopping streets of the capital, with its bazaars, cafés, mosques and many Islamic-inspired monuments.

You’ll then escape to El Fayoum, an oasis of astonishing natural beauty, where you’ll discover the expanse of Lake Qârun and the high Wadi El Rayan waterfalls located close to a desert. You’ll also enjoy a sandbord ride and a 4X4 excursion.

Then it’s on to Hurghada, where you’ll enjoy a few days’ relaxation in a luxury hotel on the shores of the Red Sea. You can enjoy the seaside atmosphere of this paradise, slip your feet into the warm sand and watch a belly dance performance.

Then, a cruise on the legendary Nile River takes you to the heart of the country, from Luxor to Aswan: a historic journey dotted with architectural wonders. You’ll visit the most beautiful temples dedicated to the gods and goddesses of antiquity and built for the great pharaohs. Finally, your journey of discovery will reach its climax at the majestic temples of Abu Simbel, from where you’ll have a superb view of Lake Nasser.

You’ll then fly to Jordan, where you’ll discover Amman, a capital pulsating with a young and dynamic population, a university town packed with meeting places, but also endowed with an important ancient heritage, including several Roman remains and an Umayyad palace dating from the 8th century.

Then you’ll be transported back to the days of the Kings’ Road, the mythical route used for centuries by caravan merchants trading between East and West, and along whose route you’ll find Jerash and Ajlun, sites that are home to relics dating back to Roman times and the Crusades. In Madaba, the city of mosaics, you’ll marvel at a masterpiece of Byzantine art in St. George’s Church. Then, in Petra, you’ll be captivated by the beauty of this Nabataean city carved into pink sandstone cliffs and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The pyramid of Cheops, the only one of the Seven Wonders of the World to have survived to the present day, is one of these imposing vestiges of Egyptian antiquity. It seems that the pyramids were erected some 4,500 years ago, and that their construction was facilitated by the existence of a branch of the Nile River, now dried up, which would have enabled the stones to be transported from nearby quarries. However, the engineering challenges involved in their construction still leave many questions unanswered in today’s scientific world.

  • Mohammed Ali Mosque Mohammed Ali Mosque: Cairo’s most important Islamic sanctuary, built in the heart of the citadel in the 19th century Ottoman architectural style for Viceroy Mohammed-Ali Pasha, considered the father of modern Egypt. He was responsible for Egypt’s entry into the industrial age, making the country one of the world’s leading cotton producers. He was behind the first initiatives to build railroads and dig canals to transport materials for export. Egypt owes him a debt of gratitude for important social reforms, including the country’s first military, medical and pharmacy schools.
